How cannabis Packaging Protects the Flower Flavor

Like most foods and medicines, cannabis is sensitive to oxygen, light, and moisture, which can undercut the flavor that consumers expect. Product integrity is important because the packaging is what keeps it protected. For cannabis retailers, finding the packaging that protects it against light is pretty easy, but safeguarding from the other things is hard, especially when you’re trying to protect the terpenes that are there, changing the flavor and aroma that’s there.  So how do you do this? Well terp-protection packaging is a type of modified packaging that’s atmospheric, and usually it controls the humidity too.

Vireo Health and The Amlifi flower

Vireo health has amplify flower, and this is a different type of strain.

The package is in a jar that has a terpene-containing closure that protects the profile of this.  It uses a black and opaque glass to protect the light from this. This also only adds a few cents to the package, and compared to conventional caps, this is adapted for the different types of packaging sizes too, and it enhances the lower as well, allowing for the protection of the terpenes in the product. This does keep the product for a lot of people for a much longer period of time, aiding to the preservation of the product too.

Nitrogen Flushing

Another company that uses something different is Honest Marijuana, which is an atmospheric packaging that protects the terpenes and the dried flower. It packs the flower into the cans, flushes them with nitrogen, and then seals them. This not only protects the terpenes but creates an oxygen-free environment to offer the right kind of moisture, and prevents bacterial growth, which increases the shelf life and eliminates risks of molding, since it can protect the terpenes and prevent leaching as well. These cans are also child-resistant too, and the “big-bud” cans are tamper evident too since they have metal tabs that are on each end. They use an N2 nitrogen dosing and the sealing equipment, and then it offers a very small amount of nitrogen, turning into a gas, pushing out the oxygen, and then sealing this as well.

Controlling humidity

Another thing you need to watch out for is humidity. Humidity packs are essential, since if it’s too humid, it will ruin the flower. You can add moisture-control packets to these, and it can also add a more dynamic sort of way to remove the moisture and the humidity that normally happens in sealed packages or storage container, all the while protecting the terpenes. The packers in this do have a saturated component made of saline that’s sealed within the leak-proof vapor-phase membrane as well, and the exterior of this is kraft paper.

Purified water vapor can also be emitted from this, or directly absorbed into it, and they are approved by the FDA and are food-safe too, so that you can not only protect the areas within the packaging, but also make sure that you are giving the highest-quality product and keep the terpenes that are there intact. Cannabis packaging has its own means of preservation that a lot of people don’t normally focus on or think of, and there are different ways for you to make sure you have the cannabis products that you want to sell, and those in which you’re properly preserving, no matter what it may be, and what else you may have to do with it as well.Luckily, these are all easy ways to start preserving the cannabis package that you have, and everything that you definitely will enjoy too.
